ST. PAUL, Minn. - After playing through six overtimes in the semifinals, the Minnetonka girls' hockey team defeated Hill-Murray 3-1 to capture the Class 2A state championship.

The Skippers defended their title by limiting the Pioneers to just one goal all night. Senior forward Darby Flatley put Minnetonka up early in the first period. The Skippers continued their success in the second period when Amy Peterson, who scored the game-winner in the semifinals, tipped the puck in to give Minnetonka their second goal of the game. Laura Bowman added a third goal in the third period to seal the victory for the Skippers. Minnetonka has now won three consecutive state championships.
