APPLE VALLEY, Minn. - There was an important South Suburban Conference game in Apple Valley on Friday night. But even more important than the game, was the fact that Apple Valley and Eastview were playing for the City Championship.
And both teams came out wanting to take that trophy home.
Apple Valley struck early and often in this game. And at halftime, the Eagles were up 20-0. They would add another touchdown early in the 3rd to take a 26-0 lead.
And then the Lightning woke up.
Eastview stormed back, scoring 3 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to cut the Apple Valley lead to 26-21. And the Lightning finished off the comeback in the 4th with one more touchdown. The Lightning score 29 unanswered points in the 2nd half to comeback and beat the Eagles 29-26.
Eastview moves to 4-2 on the season, while Apple Valley falls to 4-2.
