Prep roundup: Froeba lifts Loyal past Spencer

SPENCER - Mason Froeba did it on both ends of the court for the Loyal boys basketball team.

Froeba made 8 of 12 field-goal attempts, scoring 21 points and blocked five shots to lift the Greyhounds to a 44-42 Cloverbelt Conference East Division victory over Spencer on Thursday.

Mitchell Susa had a team-high 12 points for the Rockets and Cody Esser chipped in 10.

WAUSAU - Austin Hawkins scored 29 points to propel his team to a narrow victory. Blake Anderson also chipped in 12 points for Auburndale.

Marcus Gabriel has 18 points for the Cardinals and Nick Thoreson scored 12 in the loss.

"I'm very proud of our effort that our guys are playing (with). We are playing well as a team, we just need to find a way to get over the hump. We are losing too many close games," Newman coach Jeff Gress said.

OWEN - James Cook had 17 points and Tyler Johnson added 11, as Greenwood used a balanced scoring attack to down the Blackhawks in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division tussle.

James Hlavac and Westin Wuethrich each added nine for Greenwood.

Albert Goerlitz had a team-high 22 points for Owen-Withee.

PITTSVILLE - Collin Seubert poured in 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Vince Dinkel added 14 points as the Raiders downed the Panthers in a battle of Marawood Conference South Division unbeatens on Thursday.

Trail Pierce scored 12 points and 11 rebounds and Sawyer Ladick and Brad Wesely each added nine points for the Panthers.

Matthew Haehlke added 12 points and six rebounds for Marathon.
