RICHWOOD - North Union wrapped up an undefeated regular season by beating Highland 29-0 Friday night in Mid Ohio Athletic Conference football action.
The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 10-0 overall mark. They were 9-0 in the MOAC as Red Division champions.
North Union got off to a fast start Friday with 14 points in the opening quarter. Thane Hoffman ran 43 yards for a touchdown and Kam Smith burst in from 1 yard out and added a two-point conversion.
That 14-0 score held until the fourth quarter when the hosts added 15 more to their total.
Hoffman hit the end zone from one yard away for a TD and Drew Crabtree ran two yards for another touchdown.
Crabtree added a PAT pass to Tyler Hammons and Daniel Barr kicked a PAT.
Hoffman led the winners in rushing with 88 yards on 12 carries while Crabtree ground out 87 yards on 10 carries. Hammons pulled in two passes for 30 yards.
Kyle Minyo led Highland (5-5, 5-4) with 46 rushing yards on 14 carries and Shawn Beltz added 29 yards on 10 carries.
North Union awaits today's announcement from the Ohio High School Athletic Association as to whom it will play in the state playoff this weekend.
FOOTBALL Cardington 28, Ridgedale 14
MORRAL - Cardington wrapped up second place in the MOAC Blue Division with a 28-14 win over Ridgedale on Friday.
The Pirates finished the season 3-6 in the MOAC and 3-7 overall with their third straight win.
Ridgedale concluded its season 0-10 overall and 0-9 in the MOAC.
FOOTBALL Mount Gilead 20, Northmor 12
MOUNT GILEAD - Mount Gilead topped Northmor Friday 20-12 to end its season with a 2-8 overall mark and a 2-7 record in the MOAC.
Northmor finished 2-8 and 1-8.
