MOAC athletes still in for football, cross country

Mt. Gilead girls take top honors in Pickerington

The postseason continues for several cross country runners and two local football teams.

North Union's football team earned a home playoff berth and will face Galion at 7:30 p.m. Friday. River Valley plays at Napoleon at 7 p.m Saturday.

Mount Gilead's girls' cross country squad will advance to the state meet on Nov. 3 for Division III after topping the district meet last weekend. Team members Bryanna Bolha, Rachel Bush, Taryn Chapman, Sophia Friessen, Raychel Gress, Makenzie McKirgan and Jenna Shipman finished first in Pickerington on Saturday with a time of 1:43:48.27.

Other local Division III runners advancing are Jacob Long of Cardington-Lincoln and Dexter McColly of Pleasant.

For Division II cross country, Wyatt Uresti and Hannah Campbell of River Valley and Logan Ebersole of Highland are representing the MOAC in the state tournament.

The volleyball season is over for the Pleasant volleyball team, ranked eighth in their bracket. Top seed Bloom-Carroll defeated the Spartans 25-13; 25-22; 25-22 in the Division III district semifinals on Saturday.
