A Tattnall Academy Trojan is taking his baseball skills to the next level.

Senior first baseman, Dakota Long, signed at a ceremony today to play baseball for Georgia Southwestern State.

Long has played catcher and first base for coach Joey Hiller. In his time on the diamond, Dakota and the Trojans have won two state championships.

Long says the time spent at Tattnall prepared him to excel in college. After his senior baseball season, Dakota will head to Georgia Southwestern, a place he says felt just right.

"One of the main things I wanted to find in a college was a place like home," said Long. "A place that I felt like that was my place to be. When I went down to Southwestern, the coaching staff was great. Just walking around the campus I felt like that was where I needed to be. The baseball program is going to be great. It's just what I wanted to have in a college."

Long plans to study exercise science and sports medicine in college.
