August 1st was opening day for GHSA football programs to have their first practice in full pads.
13WMAZ's Marvin James made a stop at the Panther Pit. Of course its home of the Perry Panthers and third year head coach Stacey Harden. The Panthers finished 7-3 last season and qualified for the state playoffs; however, they lost in the first round to Cairo ending the year at 7-4.
This summer Coach Harden says he feels better about the teams chances in this new realigned classification and going further in the state playoffs.
"You know one thing I think about right now is we have alittle bit more depth than we have had in the past and all the kids have been working hard", says Harden. "We're just excited, trying to get some work in. Staying excited and getting ready to go."
Perry opens the season August 31 against Peach County.
