The U.S. Army will march into the Macon area on Wednesday, October 3 and Thursday October 4 to select two local high school football stars to for the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Represenatives will visit West Laurens High School on Wednesday to see standout Johnny O'Neal accept his honorary All-American Bowl jersey from local soldiers in front his friends, family, teammates and classmates. Similarly, Demarcus Robinson of Peach County High School in Fort Valley will be selected next Thursday. These events will honor O'Neal and Robinson, but the Army also will recognize Coach Nobles and Coach Campbell and invite them to come to San Antonio as well, acknowledging that leadership and teamwork help develop each All-American.
By becoming an Army All-American, O'Neal and Robinson join an elite fraternity. Only 90 high school football players out of millions in the nation are selected annually. Players are chosen not just because they excel on the football field, but because they possess the strengths similar to our Army Strong Soldiers of mental, emotional and physical toughness. O'Neal and Robinson will also join the ranks of talented alumni comprised of NFL stars and Heisman Trophy winners, including former Demon turn War Eagle Jeffrey Whitaker, Andrew Luck, Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow.
