Mount de Sales is making a change. The school's Board of Trustees voted Thursday night to apply for membership in the Georgia High School Association according to school president David Held. If the GHSA accepts their application, The Cavaliers would start competition with the 2014-15 school year. Held said the decision came after an intensive four year study and was made with the belief the move will provide greater opportunities for MDS students.. Athletic Director Robert Slocum said the Board voted overwhelmingly in favor of making the switch. The move marks a return to the GHSA for the Cavaliers. Mount de Sales won three state titles in football in the early 1970's under head coach Mike Garvin and eight state baseball titles between 1966 and 1980.
