Howard Plays First Game on Home Field

12:29 PM, Mar. 13, 2013 EDT

The Howard Huskies baseball team has been homeless for the first four seasons.  Tuesday night, they hit their new diamond for the first time.

"We've been open five years and we really haven't had a field," said head coach Danny Slaughter.  "We've had to bus our team to practice for four years in a row."

Now, the Huskies just step outside the classroom for practice.

"It's just great to play at home and finally realize a home field advantage."

"The kids were really excited about it."

Howard lost to West Laurens 16-4.  The Huskies are back at home on Thursday hosting Ola.
