The FPD softball team jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on, falling 6-3 to Buford on Saturday morning at the Wesleyan Tournament. While the Vikings led until the fourth, Buford was successful in working its way back, taking the lead on a three run triple by Sydney Stavro.
Emily Crocker picked up the win for Buford, tossing two innings of shutout ball, while walking two and allowing two hits. FPD's Sumner Carlton went 2-3, driving in two. The Vikings were outhit 7-5. Each team committed an error in the contest.
Another impressive hitting performance by FPD's Caitlin Collins was not enough as the FPD softball team fell 6-4 to Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Collins racked up two RBI's on one hit for FPD, doubling in the fifth inning.
The Vikings allowed all six runs in first two innings and could never recover. Wesleyan's Dacia Jones recorded the win for Wesleyan, giving up two runs over four frames. Jones also struck out four, walked four and allowed two hits.
The Vikings also fell to St. Pius X, 6-5.
