Athlete of the Week: Kibwe Troupe

6:31 PM, Apr. 11, 2013 EDT

At first glance if you look fast enough, you would think that Kibwe Troupe has been running all his life, instead the senior says he just started to take up track in the eigth grade.

"It looks like he was born to run the 200m and 400m", says Coach Trent Allen. "The way he leans into the curve is so natural. I didn't have to teach him much. I look forward to him doing something very special at state this year."

The sprinter is having a great season, coming off the Copeland Invitational where he was the team's high point winner which helped lead the boys team to victory but he is quick to spread the wealth.

The teenager is very unselfish but Coach says Troupe truly deserves the recognition. Through all half dozen meets this season, Troupe has yet to lose a 200m or 400m race.

Allen says, "He's excellent with our younger guys and picks up teammates when they don't do well. He's turned into a great leader for this team."

"I like the competition to see where I am", adds Troupe. "And every race I seem to get better and better. My teammates are always pushing me as well, every day."

Troupe has his eyes on a state title in the 4x400 and the 400m this season, and he feels as long as he has on the spikes and that winning attitude, he can't lose.

Troupe's 400 time is third best in the state in all classifications and his 200 time is 9th across the board as well.
