OUTLOOK

The Tigers are in the state final for the first time since capturing the second of their two championships in 1998. They're led by a pair of super sophomores in Boyd and Sindelar.

Boyd carried 30 times for 289 yards and four touchdowns in Friday's 43-31 victory over DeSales in the state semifinals. Caldwell County will try to become the first public school to win the 2-A title since Mercer County in 2006.

The Thoroughbreds won their last state title in 2010, thumping Owensboro Catholic 42-0, but were eliminated by eventual state champion Covington Holy Cross in last year's regional finals. Along with his 26 rushing TDs, Hayes is a special-teams dynamo who has returned six kicks (five punts, one kickoff) for TDs this season.
