Enough already. But maybe not.
Patience is running thin for those involved in playing and scheduling high school postseason action.
Superstorm Sandy took its toll, and another storm that hit the Lower Hudson Valley Wednesday resulted in the postponement of all Section 1 tournament events scheduled for that day. And with more bad weather forecast for today, there could be even more postponements.
"I sent word to my captains to be prepared for anything," said North Salem boys soccer coach Ron Hendrie, whose team is scheduled to face Blind Brook in the Class B final today.
The Class A football final between Somers and Sleepy Hollow was rescheduled for today at 6 p.m. And all finals matches for the Section 1 volleyball tournament were postponed until today, including the one boys final.
The individual and relay sectional swim trials were pushed to Friday at 5:15 p.m. -- the same day the actual championships were scheduled to be held -- at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack.
Also, the Class AA boys soccer semifinal pitting Scarsdale against Arlington was postponed. They will try to get it in today at 2 p.m.
Today's sectional schedule already includes boys soccer, girls soccer, field hockey and diving, all of which had been previously postponed, but today might be another washout, either because of school closings or unplayable fields.
Somers football player Joe Lombardo, whose team would have been playing on the minimum-allowed amount of rest since last Saturday's semifinal win over Harrison, said he would be fine with another postponement, for two reasons -- one common sense, the other strategic.
"One, just so we can rest up," he said. "Two, the more time coach (Tony DeMatteo) has to prepare, the more disruptive he can be in the game."
On the bright side, there appears to be sunny weather ahead, starting Friday and lasting at least into Monday, when the forecast is calling for possible temperatures in the 60s.
