NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- CAC senior Joey Pinney bonds over baseball with a special friend, Connor Thompson.

Baseball is America's favorite pastime and for two teenage boys, it means more than anyone could imagine.

"It's just been sweet. Real sweet," says Tracy Thompson, Connor's mother.

Tracy is talking about the bond her son, Connor shares with CAC senior Joey Pinney.

"We've watched joey play baseball forever it seems like. And just to watch him go through just the different levels of baseball and to see where he is today is just amazing," says Thompson.

"His dad coached me. and I've just been around him and created that bond. He's just that kid that you want to be around. He's just great, a great kid," says Joey.

Every game, every season, Joey dedicates to Connor.

Wednesday, Joey officially signed to play baseball at UCA.
He says staying close to home, for family and for Connor, was a big factor.

"I just want my family to be close so they can come watch me whenever they want. Hopefully he can come up to some up of my games and on my breaks I'll go down and see him and say hey and everything like that," Joey says.

And that works for Connor as well.

"It's great because we can come watch some games and just take some more baseball in and watch Joey grow even more," Tracy says.
