Restaurants cater to football fans

11:35 PM, Aug. 17, 2012 EDT

High School football teams across East Tennessee kicked off the season this weekend, and local restaurants are hoping packed stadiums lead to full tables.

Big Ed's Pizza in Oak Ridge is one pre and post game favorite for football fans.

Manager Alex Beanblossom says they staff the day with about 10 extra employees to ensure everything goes smoothly.

"You got people from out of town that don't usually come in, so they make it a point to get their pizza fix," said Beanblossom.

TC Grill in Maryville is extending their Friday night hours in hopes that fans will stop by after cheering on their team.

They typically close at 9 p.m., but will remain open every Friday night this season until at least 11 p.m.

"We're going to stay open until the last customers served," said Manager Jessica Boring. "We're hoping to catch a lot of different people maybe just in town for the football game."
