The TSSAA has proposed a new district alignment that would take effect in the 2013-2014 school year and run through the 2016-2017 school year. The alignment will be voted on by the Board of Control on Thursday.
Here are the changes involving Knoxville area schools:
-Gibbs moves up from 4A to 5A, leaving District 3-AA and heading to District 3-AAA. The Eagles will now compete in the same district with Powell, Oak Ridge, Halls, Campbell County, Clinton, Central and Anderson County.
-Catholic drops down from 5A to 4A and joins District 4-AA, the same district that holds Alcoa and CAK.
-Hardin Valley will slide over from District 3-AAA to District 4-AAA to fill the slot vacated by Catholic.
