It may have been an annual rivalry between two East Tennessee football teams, but Friday they both played for one person.
Brady Walls, 17, passed away in late April after he fell from a pick up truck. He played for Coalfield, and later for Oliver Springs high school.
When those two teams met Friday, they met for the first ever "Brady Bowl."
"It was always a big rivalry on 'the mountain' and now both teams have put more heart into it than hate. It's a good thing," said Walls' aunt Stacie Weems.
Before the game, students let go purple and orange balloons -- signifying the two teams in Brady's honor.
Walls' two uniform numbers, #33 for the Yellow Jackets and #12 for the Bobcats, when he played for Coalfield and Oliver Springs were highlighted on the field. Organizers said the "Brady Bowl" will be an annual event for some time.
"Everybody loved him on both sides. He played for both schools for a year. When he played for us, they loved him. When he played for him, we loved him. So we came together," said Coalfield Athletic Director Shawn Basler.
Coalfield won the first ever Brady Bowl 45-7.
