YULEE, Fla. -- Yulee High School RB Derrick Henry has broken a record that has stood for six decades.
Before the Hornets' Friday night game against Taylor County, Henry only needed 103 yards to break the all-time high school rushing record of 11,232 yards.
He did it.
The record was previously held by Ken Hall, who played football for Sugar Land High School in Texas in the early 1950s.
Hall said he and Henry will now be connected by the record.
"Seeing someone break the record, yeah you don't want to see it go," Hall said. "But you'll always have it, and you'll have made a friend."
