North Central High School senior forward Mike Galullo is proud to follow in a long line of successful soccer players for the Panthers.
Galullo, who was recently named the Player of the Year by Indiana Soccer Coaches Association, has also earned The Indianapolis Star's Super Team Player of the Year honor. He was selected by the Star's high school sports staff with input from the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association and area coaches. Galullo, who also made the Super Team as a junior, has signed to play with Indiana University.
"Michael is such an explosive and quick player with the ball," North Central coach Jerry Little said. "For us, every game he was double-teamed and sometimes triple-teamed. So everyone was well aware of his abilities. One of the things IU is most impressed with is his quickness and that he's so tough on the ball."

What is your favorite type of music? "Hip Hop"
What is your favorite class? "Economics is pretty interesting. There are a lot of lessons about money and I think everyone loves money."
Who is your favorite athlete? "Right now I'd go with Lionel Messi. He plays (soccer) for Barcelona and Argentina."
Where do you see yourself in 15 years? "I see myself playing professional soccer in Europe or in the MLS (Major League Soccer)."

What made you choose IU? "I chose IU because they have a very good soccer program (and) the Kelley School of Business. Sports management is something I'm going to look into and that's a degree they offer. With those two things, I thought IU was my best option."
What is your favorite non-sports memory? "I'd have to say going back out east. It's always nice visiting family and seeing where your parents grew up. My mom is from Lexington, Mass., and my dad is from Watertown, Conn."
"What is your best sports memory? "When I scored the game-winning (penalty kick) against (Louisville) Trinity in the Great Midwest Classic tournament that North Central hosts."
