The IHSAA boys basketball tournament begins tonight and a number of Indianapolis-area teams are in action. Star reporter Kyle Neddenriep is at the Warren Central sectional and Star correspondent Jason Haddix is at the Mt. Vernon sectional.

Lawrence Central 44, Warren Central 43
Lawrence Central is still breathing.
Alan Willis made a running one-hander at the buzzer to give the Bears a 44-43 win over Warren Central in the first round of Class 4A Sectional 8 on Tuesday night.
Lawrence Central (10-10) will play Tech (20-4) in the semifinals on Friday night. A few of the Bears pointed up to Tech as the left the court for the locker room.
"You're next," Lawrence Central's DaVonte Harris said of the message for Tech.
Harris led Lawrence Central with 15 points and Willis added 14, including 10 in the second half. Indiana recruit Devin Davis led Warren Central with 16 points and 15 rebounds in his final high school game.

Pike 89, Perry Meridian 82
Zavier Turner scored 27 points, including 16 in the second half for the Class 4A No. 5 Red Devils (20-3) in a 89-82 victory over Perry Meridian (11-9). Turner went 8-for-8 from the free throw line including 6-for-6 in the final quarter. Jordan Pickett scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Pike.
Carmel 57, Zionsville 38
Carmel's Zach McRoberts scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds and had two steals, to guide Class 4A No. 1 Carmel to a victory. James Crowley chipped in 11 points with seven rebounds for Carmel. Andrew Dakich led Zionsville (11-10) with 11 points.
Speedway 72, Monrovia 59
The Sparkplugs' (17-4) Anthony Jones scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter as Speedway defeated Monrovia (9-13) 72-59. For Speedway, Justin Brent led the way with 25 points and Jordan Furlow added 22 points.
Mooresville 56, Northview 44
The Mooresville Pioneers (10-11) defeated Northview (8-15) 56-44 in 4A sectional action as Jacob Johnson scored a game-best 26 points and teammate Keith Kassen added 11 second-half points. Kassen finished with 15 points and Lane Weaver added nine points for Mooresville.
Center Grove 71, New Palestine 70
Troy Vorhies hit two free throws with under a minute left and teammate Ryan Pendygraft added another free throw to give the Center Grove Trojans (9-12) a 71-70 victory over the New Palestine Dragons. Tyler Bryant led Center Grove in scoring with 22 points including six 3-pointers and Pendygraft added 15 points. Michael Benkert tallied 14 points for the Trojans while Ryan Curry led New Palestine (15-6) with 23 points and seven 3-pointers.
Arlington 62, Howe 57
Arlington battled back to close out each of the two halves against Howe during game one of the Mt. Vernon boys' basketball sectional before finally overtaking the Hornets.
The Golden Knights out scored the Hornets 13-3 over the final 2:55 of the fourth to send it into overtime. Arlington then shot a perfect 2-for-2 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line to advance to face Bishop Chatard on Friday at 6 p.m.

Caleb Brannon scored 20 points and had five steals for Lebanon (16-5). Jake Marshall added 15 points and three steals and Nathan Rogers had 10 points for Lebanon.
Beech Grove 68, Indian Creek 63
Beech Grove stormed back from a seven-point deficit to start the fourth quarter to pull out the victory at Danville in Sectional 27. Joey Cardenas had 21 points and Kori Sublett 20 for the Hornets. Indian Creek was led by Austin Smith with 20 points.
Tri-West 68, Manual 47
Trevor Waite scored 15 points in leading the Bruins ((13-8) over the Manual Redskins ( 2-19). Brant Gadberry added 11 points for Tri-West.
Marshall 85, Herron 57
In Class 2A Sectional 42 at Broad Ripple, Nigel Robinson and Jamaal Ware scored 13 points each to lead a balanced attack for the Patriots (15-6) in their victory over the Achaeans (11-10). Marshall built a 46-20 halftime lead and coasted from there. Herron's Rico Stewart led all scorers with 16 points.
University 52, Fall Creek 41
In Class A Sectional 58 at University, the host Trailblazers (11-11) got a game-high 24 points points from senior guard Eric Wott to outdistance the Engineers (12-10). Senior center Dominic Dixon contributed a double-double for University with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Anthony Maranto dished out six assists.

Park Tudor 64, Shortridge 40
Trevon Bluiett poured in a game-high 34 points to power the No. 1 Panthers (21-2) past the Blue Devils (12-9). Shortridge hung around through halftime, trailing 23-17 at the break. Park Tudor pulled away by virtue of a 21-7 third quarter. Chris Jones paced Shortridge with 13 points. Park Tudor next faces Broad Ripple (14-7) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Jamario Wann scored 42 points in a losing effort as the Tigers (9-12) fell to Washington (11-10). Zach Ladd led Washington with 24 points.
Baptist Academy 47, Greenwood Christian 45
David McKnight hit two free throws with 6.6 seconds remaining to lift the Chargers (11-11) over the Cougars (10-11). Baptist Academy's David Clanton led all scorers with 18 points. McKnight finished with 10. For Greenwood Christian, Lucas Peters was the high scorer with 14 points and Morgan Booher followed with 13.
Triton Central 64, Metropolitan 59
Atticus Felling scored 23 points in leading the Triton Central Tigers (7-16) over Metropolitan ( 4-18).
