Carmel High School senior Tori Doss will get an early start on her college career.

The Indianapolis Star Super Team Girls Soccer Player of the Year will graduate from Carmel this month and enroll at Xavier in January.

The forward, who was selected for the honor by The Star's high school sports staff with input from the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association and area coaches, had 11 goals and four assists for the Greyhounds, who had a 16-2-1 record this season. Doss helped lead the Greyhounds to Class 2A state title in 2011.

Get to know Doss a little better:

What is your favorite class? "I really liked my AP literature class year, but I also really like math as a subject."

What is your favorite movie? "It's a tossup between 'Rudy' and 'Remember the Titans.' "

What made you choose Xavier? "I really like the school from an academic standpoint. I feel I can do well there. Then I fell in love with the soccer program. I feel it has nowhere to go but up. I think I can be a big part of that program. I really like Coach (Woody) Sherwood."

What is your best sports memory? "There is a game we called the Game Under The Lights back when we were 11. It was the first time we got to play on a stadium field (in Evansville) at night. It didn't start until 10 and it went to a PK shootout so it didn't end until midnight, way past our bedtime. We ended up winning and it was really cool. The whole experience of winning the state title was awesome, too."

Where do you see yourself in 15 years? "Hopefully have a family and do something with oncology or cancer research."

Who inspires you to be your best? "My teammates push me. Mr. (Joe) Stuelpe inspires me, too." Stuelpe is advisor to Greyhound Connection, which helps new students.

What is your favorite type of music? "I like all kinds of music."
