12:00 AM, Dec. 07, 2012 EST

Cardinal Ritter High School swept the major City football awards, with quarterback Jake Purichia earning Player of the Year and Ty Hunt Coach of the Year in a vote by the coaches. Purichia completed 179-of-248 passes (72.2 percent) for 2,960 yards with 45 touchdowns and five interceptions, and rushed for 485 yards and 13 TDs on 86 carries in leading the Raiders to the Class 2A state championship game.

A Warren Central High School defensive player was named the Marion County Player of the Year in a vote of area coaches. Linebacker Tim Kimbrough, who has committed to the University of Georgia, follows 2011 pick Sheldon Day, also a defensive lineman, after making 136 tackles, 12 for loss, and causing four fumbles for a Warren Central defense that didn't allow more than 14 points in a game during the regular season.

Lawrence Central's Jayson West was named Coach of the Year after leading the Bears to an undefeated season and Class 5A state championship.
