Avon High School sophomore outside hitter Beth Prince keeps adding to her impressive resume.
Prince, who led the Orioles to the Class 4A state title, has been named The Indianapolis Star's Super Team Volleyball Player of the year for the second consecutive year. She was selected by The Star's high school sports staff with input from area coaches. The 6-3 Prince was named ESPN's national Freshman of the Year in 2011 and has scholarship offers from Texas, Purdue, Indiana, Ohio State, Illinois, UCLA and Kentucky.
Get to know Prince a little better:
Nickname: Bethie, Ocho (by her dad because she wears uniform eight)
Favorite book: "I love the Harry Potter series."
Favorite non-sports memory: "I went to Texas for spring break with my friend and my mother and brother this year. It was a really long drive but it was fun. We went to Dallas, Austin, Houston and Galveston."
Favorite sport memory: "After we won state, we just freaked out. We fell on to the floor and there was a huge dog pile. It was just awesome."
Where do you see yourself in 15 years? "I would love to being play pro in Europe. It's a long way away and I don't know what's going to happen. But I think it would be awesome to play pro."
Most embarrassing moment on the court: "I wasn't exactly playing. But when we were switching after the third set (against Carmel in the state championship match), I tripped over nothing. I tried to pretend I was starting to run."
What is your favorite type of music? "I like pretty much everything. I listen to a variety."
Who inspires you to be your best? "(Avon) coach Scott McQueen helps me get through everything, not just on the court but he helps me with my recruiting and helps me get better every day at practice. I'm really thankful for him."
