Prep boys basketball: Ships' 1963 State team honored at game

On Friday night those in attendance at the Green Bay Notre Dame at Manitowoc Lincoln boys basketball game celebrated and honored the 50th anniversary of the Ships' 1963 boys basketball State championship team.

Before the tip-off of the game there was a welcome reception that went from 6-7 p.m. and at halftime a program and introduction of the State championship team occurred as all members of the team were contacted about returning for the celebration prior to the event.

Throughout the evening a silent auction took place for the State championship throwback jerseys which were worn by the Lincoln players during the game.

Following the game, a reception for team members, their families and dignitaries was held at Knox's Silver Valley Banquet Hall in Manitowoc.

Members of the championship team included coach John Jung, assistant coach Jim Dietrich, JV coach Walter Colton, John Lallensack, Pete Kramer, Dave Anderson, Dave Jansson, Bob Duvall, Tom Keery, Dale Lehman, Bill Buerstatte, Bill Buchholz, Bob Sullivan, John Neilitz, Jim Chermak, Greg Sands, Dean Eisner and team managers Tom Kuffel and Dean Bennington.
