Dragons erase early deficit in Flight A win

BELVEDERE - Quarterback Stephen Kowalski went 11 for 22 for 274 yards and three touchdowns to lead Glasgow to a 22-13 victory over Delcastle in a Blue Hen Flight A game on Saturday.

Kowalski hit Malcolm Strand-Young with touchdown passes of 50 and 56 yards in the second quarter as the Dragons wiped out an early 7-0 deficit and took a 16-7 halftime lead. He gave Glasgow some insurance by throwing a 12-yard scoring strike to Khari Ngozi in the third quarter. Strand-Young had three catches in the game for 123 yards.

Freshman quarterback Ahmere Dorsey scored Delcastle's touchdowns on a 70-yard run in the first quarter and a 2-yard quarterback sneak on the last play of the game.

Del. Military 42, New Church (Pa.) 0

GLASGOW - Shaun Brown had 11 carries for 154 yards and a touchdown as Delaware Military Academy bounced back from its first loss of the season. Tyler Hill returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown to give the Seahawks a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter. Kyle Sulecki added six rushes for 55 yards and two scores. The Seahawks took a 35-0 lead into halftime.

St. Georges 56, Mount Pleasant 27

PENNY HILL - Vaughn Simmons-Williams scored five touchdowns to lead St. Georges over Mount Pleasant in a Blue Hen Flight B game.

Simmons-Williams amassed 133 yards in total offense and scored on runs of 13, 1, 2 and 6 yards. He also caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Wright.

Tarron Selby led St. Georges in rushing with 83 yards and scored on an 8-yard run. Zachary Bowe added a 25-yard touchdown run. The St. Georges defense forced five turnovers, with one resulting in a touchdown as Keyjuan Selby ran back back a fumble 15 yards.

Middletown 49, Charter 8

WILMINGTON - Darius Wade threw three touchdown passes as Middletown downed Charter of Wilmington in a Blue Hen Flight A game.

Wade went 9 for 13 for 142 yards and tossed scoring strikes to Chris Godwin, Erich Schneider and Thomas Davis in the first half as the Cavaliers stormed to a 28-0 lead. Jamar Baynard rushed for 131 yards and touchdown runs of 24 and 3 yards. Shane Horn added a 4-yard touchdown run.

Matthew Oliver threw an 89-yard touchdown pass to Jarrett Ross for Charter's only score in the fourth quarter.

St. Andrew's 40, Conrad 20

NEWPORT - Austin Tilghman scored four touchdowns to lead St. Andrew's on Saturday.

Tilghman scored on runs of 5, 31, 10 and 60 yards as the Saints amassed a 33-7 halfitme lead. Nnana Amakiri and Sterling Cousar also scored rushing touchdowns for St. Andrew's.

Conrad quarterback Dayne Llamas threw touchdown passes of 20 yards to Brendon Blake and 10 yards to Derrick Mayers. Raquan Womack added an 86-yard touchdown run.

Brandywine 42, Pencader Charter 6

BRANDYWINE HUNDRED - Kyle Bacher threw two touchdown passes to spark Brandywine.

Bacher threw scoring tosses of 15 yards to Aaron Smith and 11 yards to Ra'Maj Scott as the Bulldogs scored 42 unanswered points after the Titans took an early 6-0 lead. Tharron Shehee and Tyrezz Walker scored rushing touchdowns for Brandywine and the Bulldog defense contributed touchdowns on Donminico Melton's 31-yard interception return and Troy Staker's 70-yard fumble return.

Friends 42, New Hope-Solebury 7

ALAPOCAS - Luke Magness rushed 29 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns as Wilmington Friends cruised to victory.

Magness scored on runs of 1 and 42 yards. Ben Hanson caught three passes for 77 yards, including a 54-yard strike from quarterback Sam Carney for the Quakers first touchdown in the first quarter.

Sam Carney also scored on a 35-yard interception return and a 25-yard run. Taj Holden scored his first touchdown of the season on a 4-yard run for the Quakers.

Howard 36, Christiana 0

CHRISTIANA - Running back Marvell Watts scored three touchdowns as Howard blanked Christiana in their Blue Hen Flight B game.

Watts scored on a 5-yard run, a 46-yard punt return and a 14-yard pass from quarterback B.J. Wright, who rushed for 122 yards and scored on a 26-yard run. Raekwon Wells scored Howard's other touchdown on an 8-yard run.
