ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA 9) -- By halftime, Linganore had a 14 point lead over Rockville; by the end of the third quarter, the score was 47-16.
The Lancers were well on their way to the Maryland 3A West regional quarterfinals and Linganore head coach, Brian Matthews, was looking up the scoreboard of his 501st win. The Lancers held on to their substantial lead to top Rockville, 61-26.
"We passed the ball really well. We put a new offense in and it seems to be working really well," said Matthews.

Communication was key to Linganore's success. The Lancers were selfless on offense, slowing down the ball at midcourt and cutting through the paint for the open shot.
Alex Ballard and Kelli Griffith led the Lancers in scoring with 15 points respectively. Jesse Burke racked up ten and Megan Kelly finished the night with eight.
The Lancers will return to Frederick County to take on Thomas Johnson on Monday.
"We beat them three times last year and they've beaten us twice [this season] so I owe them one," said Matthews of the team's upcoming showdown with the Patriots.
