CHANTILLY, Va. (WUSA) -- In a game where defense ruled, the Rams offense came up big in the final minutes of regulation on Friday night. A layup by Robinson senior forward Nick Bynum essentially iced the game with 2:06 left, making the score 48-40. The Rams pulled away to eventually defeat Chantilly, 55-47.

The Chantilly press worked in the first quarter to an effective level, forcing four Rams turnovers. The Chargers started off the game on a 6-2 run behind baskets from senior forward Trey Coates and sophomore forward Josh Conwell. Robinson held a 13-10 lead after a three from junior guard Jacob Thompson with 3.2 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Rams built the lead to 27-21 at the half, as the second quarter was a defensive struggle on both sides.

A three point play by Rams junior guard Avyn Johnson tied the score at 36 after the Chargers held a 36-29 lead with two minutes remaining in the third.

Senior forward Brian Sydnor led the Chargers in scoring with 14 points. Keegan Ruddy and Jared Steen led the Rams with 13 points respectively.

Robinson fell to Herndon, 68-49, on Tuesday while Chantilly lost to Centreville, 56-47, also on Tuesday.
