Campus Correspondent Report: North Point Basketball

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- DeMatha defeated North Point, 60-57, in a highly anticipated early-season showdown in Hyattsville on Saturday afternoon. 

With DeMatha, which is now ranked ranked fifth in Maryland and North Point, now ranked seventh in the state by USA Today, both teams entered the game with added pressure to win.

The game started slowly. North Point had 11 points and DeMatha had 16 by the end of the first quarter. Through the second and third quarters, DeMatha kept their lead with North Point trailing closely behind. By the beginning of the fourth quarter, DeMatha had a 14-point lead.

From there, North Point rallied for the win and scored 19 points. Within the last minute of the game, DeMatha scored, bringing the final to 60-57, Stags.

This is the first loss of the season for the North Point basketball team.
