Three area teams grabbed regular season honors as the District 5 volleyball teams recently were announced.
River View junior Andi Daugherty made first team in Division II, seniors Mackenzie Griffith and Kylie Hawkins were on second team and sophomore Jessie Gibson was selected as honorable mention.
Ridgewood and Coshocton picked up honors in Division III. Ridgewood seniors Victoria Wiggins and Kelsey Miller made first team, Ridgewood senior Abbey Youngen and Coshocton sophomore Madeline Hire were second-team selections, and honorable mention included Redskins senior Ashley Blakely and Generals sophomore Erika Michael.
The District 5 All-Star match will be at 6 p.m. today at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School. The district teams will be recognized between sets, and proceeds from the match go to the Ronald McDonald House and the District 5 volleyball scholarship winner.
The East team will include Griffith and Hawkins, and the West team will feature Miller, Wiggins and Youngen.
Division II player of the year was New Philadelphia's Laini Leindecker, and Dover's Beth Mathews was named coach of the year.
Tuscarawas Valley senior Katlynn Dunlap earned player of the year honors in Division III, and Denell Gordon led the Trojans to a 22-0 regular-season mark to grab coach of the year accolades.
