Brown In Charge At Batesburg-Leesville

Leesville, SC (WLTX) --- He spent 27 years as head coach before stepping away for one season. But one season away from the action was enough for Dr. Jerry Brown who is in his first season as the head coach at Batesburg-Leesville.

Brown won his first state title at Spring Valley in 1988 before moving to his alma mater of Fairfield Central. But it was when he headed to the Lowcounty that Brown achieved his greatest success. In 18 years at Berkeley he won three state championships before stepping away from the game.

In 2011, Brown spent the sesaon as the athletics director at Fairfield Central. However, he realized he missed working with kids on the practice fields and watching that work come to fruition on a Friday night. That's when Brown returned to coaching at a program that won just one game in 2011.

Brown says he was attracted the challenge of coaching at a school that has a lot of tradition but not much success recently.
