Cayce, SC (WLTX) --- In his 23 years as the boys soccer coach at Brookland-Cayce High School, Kevin Heise has kept a busy schedule in the summer by holding a summer camp.
Boys and girls from the Midlands convence in Cayce during the middle of July where Heise's staff teaches fundamentals in a week of evening workouts designed for kids of various ages.
One of the benefits of the camp is that it gives Heise and girls soccer coach Katie Smith an early look at those youngsters who might have potential to help the Bearcats programs down the road.
However, Heise says the main purpose of the camp is to simply promote the sport of soccer in the community and that can mean more fans in the stands at "The Cage" to watch the Bearcats in action.
In fact, some of Heise's camp staff includes players from the Bearcat boys and girls teams. Many of those players were once campers and now they are giving back to the community by passing on their knowledge to up-and-coming players.
