The Berea Braves (3-6, 1-5 Southwestern Conference) and Midpark Meteors (5-4, 2-4 Southwestern Conference) will play in the final gridiron "Battle for the Grindstone" Friday night inside Baldwin-Wallace University's Bob Finnie Stadium.

Midpark enters the football contest with a one-game lead in the all-time series (25-24).

More than 7,000 alumni and community members are expected to pack the stands for the final game between the rival schools before they merge together at the start of the 2013-14 academic year. Countless others are expected to watch the showdown on TV.

Years from now, most community members will likely be sharing the same memories about the event, but the 160 or so student-athletes who comprise both teams will have a different narrative to tell.

Earlier this week, the staff at usatodayhss.com/Cleveland reached out to members of both teams through Twitter and asked them to share their thoughts on participating in the historic contest. The responses quickly came pouring in, once again proving the meaning and impact of Friday's game goes beyond where both teams finish in the SWC standings.

Read the comments we received below to learn, in their own words, what participating in the final Berea-Midpark football game means to players from both squads.
