A 1-4 start to the 2011 season by the Lakeview High School football team ultimately kept the Bulldogs - who won their final five games - from making their third consecutive appearance in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division IV playoffs.

The team's 13 returning lettermen - specifically the seniors - are determined to make sure a similar scenario doesn't play out in 2012, as proven by their selection of "Leave no doubt" as the squad's motto this fall.

The Bulldogs are members of the All-American Conference's White Division and employ a spread offense.

"We play a demanding schedule," Lakeview head football coach Tom Pavlansky said. "Our kids are excited about the opportunity in 2012."

Pavlansky recently answered questions about this year's squad and its upcoming season for WKYC's usatodayhss.com Web site.

WKYC's usatodayhss.com: What was your message to your team during its first meeting of fall camp?

Lakeview football coach Tom Pavlansky: We emphasized best effort and no excuses.

WKYC: What is the biggest question/uncertainty about your team that you hope to have answered by the start of conference play?

Pavlansky: Our inexperience and lack of depth on both sides of the line.

WKYC: What are your goals for your team this season?

Pavlansky: Make each day count.

WKYC: Who are your team's projected leaders/captains this season? What do you expect each to bring to the team?

Pavlansky: Trevor Watson and Zac Sicilian were elected captains by their teammates last winter. We expect them to lead in a positive manner and prepare to have their career-best year.

WKYC: What do you expect to be your team's greatest strength this year?

Pavlansky: Our experience at the skill positions.

WKYC: What is your team's biggest weakness right now?

Pavlansky: Our inexperience up front.

WKYC: What makes your team this season unique from other area teams?

Pavlansky: Each team is unique. This squad has had more depth and competition at the skill positions than we've had in recent years.
