This week's 10 games to watch

12:00 AM, Nov. 08, 2012 EST

Southaven (8-3) at Clinton (6-5)

Arrows have won five straight under first-year coach Judd Boswell after a 1-5 start to earn No. 2 seed from Region 2-6A, but draw tough first-round assignment in pass-happy Chargers. Winner gets South Panola-Jim Hill winner.

C-L says: Southaven 28-20

Columbus (7-4) at Madison Central (8-3)

Falcons' solid defense (allowing just 10.9 points) goes up against a Jaguars' offense that has scored 40 or more points in four of its last five games. Winner plays Olive Branch-Warren Central winner.

C-L says: Madison 24-13

Biloxi (6-4) at Petal (10-1)

You won't find a better first-round matchup (and a better collection of receivers) than the ones in this 6A tilt between teams that started season ranked in the Super 10. Biloxi's four losses have come by a combined 11 points. Panthers have won nine straight.

C-L says: Petal 24-21

Ocean Springs (6-4) at Brandon (9-2)

Bulldogs and Greyhounds meet in a rematch of last year's first-round game that Brandon won 24-7. Ocean Springs is led by Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game QB Wes Windham. Winner plays Hattiesburg-Gulfport winner in second round.

C-L says: Brandon 28-14

Bay High (9-1) at Germantown (8-3)

Mavericks won first playoff game in school history last week, getting solid play from backup QB Peyton Johnson. They take on a Tigers team that has been one of state's biggest surprises. Winner of this one plays Tylertown-Greene County winner.

C-L says: Germantown 21-20

Lafayette (10-2) at Noxubee County (12-0)

One of these two teams has reached Jackson each of the past four years, including the past three in a row by the Commodores. The Tigers, ranked No. 2 in the Super 10, have been downright dominant all season, led by RB Darrell Robinson (41 TDs). Winner gets Itawamba AHS-Lewisburg winner.

C-L says: Noxubee County 35-13

E. Marion (8-3) at Madison St. Joseph (12-0)

Bruins, led by Nick Beasley, a stable of running backs and a stout offensive line, face stiffest test of the year when last season's 2A runners-up Eagles come to Madison for a second-round 2A clash. Deandrey Johnson (1,313 yards, 19 TDs) leads East Marion. Winner faces Taylorsville or Lumberton.

C-L says: St. Joseph 21-20

Jackson Aca. (11-1) vs. Jackson Prep (12-0)

Raiders and Patriots meet for the championship for the 12th time, with Raiders looking to become just the third team in MAIS history to win four straight titles. Prep is looking to beat its rival for the second time this season after winning 27-24 in OT in October.

C-L says: Prep 21-20

Magnolia Hts. (8-3) vs. Heritage Aca. (6-5)

Chiefs and Patriots meet for the second time this season, but this time it's for the AAA, Division II championship at Mississippi College at 2 p.m. Chiefs squeaked out a 14-13 victory in September.

C-L says: Magnolia Heights 17-13

Russell Chr. (12-0) vs. Calhoun Aca. (11-1)

The undefeated Warriors and Cougars are ranked first and second in the MAIS 8-man rankings. They'll play for the title on Friday at 10 a.m. at Mississippi College. Russell Christian won 35-26 in the regular-season finale. This one should be just as close.

C-L says: Russell Christian 35-32
