Several area athletes and two local coaches recently received All-Ohio volleyball honors from the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association.
Zane Trace's Lori Merriman won a Division III Coach's Achievement Award. Merriman led the Pioneeers to a 23-3 record this season and a spot in a Division III regional semifinal, where they lost to West Muskingum.
Two of Merriman's players earned All-Ohio recognition. Junior outside hitter Hayley Carle was named to the third team and Delaney Spetnagel, a senior outside hitter, made honorable mention.
Others making the Division III All-Ohio team included Huntington senior middle hitter Jackie Kellough -- who made the second team -- and Adena senior Jenny Grigsby, who was an honorable mention selection.
In Division II, Westfall senior outside hitter Olivia Cobb made the second team, and Waverly senior setter Kala Hall was an honorable mention pick.
In Division IV, Eastern coach Janet Day earned a Coach's Achievement Award. Eagles player Chandler Brown and Rhyanna Day, both seniors, were honorable mention selections.
