Wolverines Look to Take Next Step

11:43 PM, Nov. 30, 2012 EST

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.-Niagara Falls head coach Sal Constantino has given his team a slogan for this season. "Unfinished business." Constantino's Wolverines lost to Aquinas in the Far West Regionals last year. This year they hope to take the next step.

Last year's loss is being used as motivation by the team. "I feel like we never lost, we just ran out of time. We do have a lot of unfinished business to do this year" said senior Jermaine Crumpton.

Crumpton will again be a focal point for the Wolverines. Opponents are going to have to stop him from the outside as well as control him on the inside. "He has been a post player for the past two years, but we are moving him to the perimeter position" stated Coach Constantino. The reason for the change is to prepare Jermaine for the next level. "It's going to be such a dramatic change for him. He will be going from being one of the best guys here on the court, to being to rookie". Crumtpon recently signed to play basketball for Jim Baron at Canisius College.

Jermaine has been working hard every day because he knows he won't be the biggest guy on the floor once he starts his college career. "I thought it was going to be a little tougher, well it is kind of tough but coach Sal and my teammates are helping me prepare" said Crumpton.

He is also excited and relieved that he has chosen what college he wanted to attend. "I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, Canisius is close to my home and my family and friends can come watch me play".

"Jermaine is a phenomenal player" said teammate Jaleo Wilkes. "He can score the ball, he can handle the ball and a lot of big guys can't come outside the perimeter and move like Jermaine can".

Not only is Coach Constantino excited about their upcoming season but also the grades that his athletes have. This year he has the best academic team with a GPA of 88, which is a record.

The Wolverines will open their season against Bishop Kearney in the 2012 Cataract City Classic Friday December 7 at Niagara Falls High School.
