AMHERST, N.Y.-Williamsville East beat Hamburg 5-4 in overtime Saturday afternoon in WNY Federation Hockey action at the Northtown Center in Amherst.
For Hamburg # 12 senior Chris Moses scored two goals including one on the power play with 4:08 remaining in the third period to give Hamburg a 4-3 lead. However at the 3:39 mark the Bulldogs # 19 Cole Beale took a major penalty for a hit on the Flames # 8 Austin Bianchi. That put the Flames on the power play for just about the rest of the game.
Williamsville East tied it at four with 3:14 remaining in regulation when # 66 Tyler Trubish beat Hamburg goalie # 1 Brendan Bartoo. The score remained tied until just 45 seconds remained in overtime.
In overtime it was Bianchi who took the hit from behind who got the game winner. Flames head coach Mike Torrillo told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "we had five different goal scorers. That's kind of the way we've been playing getting production from everybody. I like that." Torrillo added "I liked the way we came back. We never quit. We were down a goal each time and we fought back and go the winner in overtime."
With the win the Flames improve to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in league play. They'll play Williamsville North Wednesday night at the Northtown Center. Face off is scheduled for 9-pm.
