BUFFALO, N.Y.-On Super Monday Niagara Wheatfield whipped Clarence 7-2 to repeat as WNY Federation Hockey Large School champions.
The game was played at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo which annually hosts Super Sunday. The event was moved to Monday this year because the arena hosted a concert Sunday night.
It was a long tough day for the Red Devils as the Falcons took advantage of nearly every mistake. Niagara Wheatfield scored early in the first period when # 7 Frank Vecchio II buried a rebound. The Red Devils tied it on a goal by # 22 Matt Colicchia but after that it was all Falcons.
Niagara Wheatfield led 4-1 after a four goal first period and they added three more second period goals for a six goal lead after two periods. . Clarence added a second goal in the third period to make it a 7-2 final.
For Niagara Wheatfield # 9 Domenic Senese had the hat trick.
