HAMBURG, N.Y.-Hamburg beat Immaculata Friday night 46-43 on the Bears home court.
Immaculata got off to a strong start and led by 10, 13-3 after the first quarter. Hamburg got back into the game in the second quarter.
Bears head coach Andrea Drabik told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "the girls played hard both ways. Kelly coaches a good team. It came down to the wire. They got up by a couple, we pressed and tied it up with about a minute and a half remaining. They hit a bucket or two to go up by three. They worked hard. They were on the floor for every loose ball. It came down to who got one more call than the other team. Our girls were 9 for 10 from the line."
The game's high scorer was # 23 Taylor Heinold from Immaculata. Heinold who reached the one thousand point mark for her career in the previous game finished with 23. Becky Gawley # 42 finished with 8 points. For Hamburg the top scorer was # 4 Jill Ford who had 11. # 51 Kendra Quinn-Moultrie had 9.
Hamburg coach Kelly Owens told Stu "they were phenomenal. It was a complete team win for us. We got off to a slow start and we had some early foul trouble but it was an all around team win."
Hamburg improves to 9-1 on the season.
