Eden Wins Fourth Straight State Championship

GLENS FALLS, N.Y.-Four Western New York teams are coming home with State Championships this weekend.

In girls volleyball Eden and Ellicottoville were in action in Glens Falls, New York.

In Class C Eden won its fourth straight state championship. Stephen Pierce's team blanked Voorheesville 3-0, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18.Lainy Pierce led the way with 12 kills and 33 assists.

In Class D Ellicottville blanked Haldane 3-0, 25-23, 26-24, 25-12. Courtney Scanlan led the way with 15 kills and five blocks. Its the first state championship in volleyball for Ellicottville.

In boys volleyball Lake Shore was blanked by Bellmore 3-0.

In boys soccer at the  NYSCHSAA Championships at St. John's (NYC)  Canisius needed two overtimes to win the title. The Crusaders. beat  Chaminade 2-1.

Also in girls State Catholic playoff action this weekend St. Mary's won their second straight championship beating St. Francis Prep 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19. Sophomore Leah Meyer led the way with nine kills and six blocks. Its the 13th State Catholic volleyball championship for St. Mary's.
