BUFFALO, N.Y.-An underestimated Cleveland Hill team jumped out to an early 10-0 lead on Buffalo East in the B2 Semifinals on Tuesday, but East battled back to win 50-45.
East took control of the game when it mattered, in the fourth quarter. The panthers found strength down low from their big man, Junior # 5 Tyree Tyson.
Tyson scored a game high 20 points to lead the way for the Panthers. Sophomore point guard # 11 Percy Bryant paced East with 10 points, and controlled the flow of the game as the Panthers escaped with a win. Cleveland Hill Sophomore # 5 Jermaine Hairston scored a team high 16 points for the Golden Eagles, who couldn't capitalize on late opportunities.
# 3 seeded East will improve to 14-6 overall, and will move on to play # 4 seeded Fredonia on Saturday at Buffalo State at 12:00 PM for the B2 Championship. Fredonia beat # 1 seeded CSAT 66-62 in Monday's Semifinal game, the Hillbillies have won 7 games in a row, and 11 out of 12.
The game was played at Buffalo State College site of the Section 6 boys basketball playoffs this week.
