Region tournament play is moving into the third round of play and six DeKalb County entries have qualified for state tournament action beginning on Wednesday, October 10.

Four DeKalb teams clinched playoff berths in Region 6-AAAAA as Arabia Mountain, Miller Grove and Dunwoody all drew berths.

Miller Grove and Dunwoody play today at 4:30 p.m. at Southeast Athletic Complex in Lithonia with the winner earning a host role in the state playoffs. Miller Grove (15-4-1) advanced with wins of 7-3 over Southwest DeKalb and a 10-3 upset of No. 1 seed Arabia Mountain (16-5). It is Miller Grove's first ever softball playoff berth.

Dunwoody (16-7) defeated Stephenson in the play-in game and then upended No. 2 seed Lakeside (18-8) 5-4 in eight innings to reach the winners'
bracket final against Miller Grove. Dunwoody ran its playoff appearance streak to four consecutive seasons.

Arabia Mountain and Lakeside collide at 6:30 p.m. at Southeast with the loser drawing the No. 4 seed and the winner still having the opportunity to earn a home playoff berth. Arabia Mountain and Lakeside are both in the state playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Redan and Chamblee are moving in the Region 6-AAAA Tournament having clinched playoff berths with first round victories.

Redan defeated Banneker in the play-in game to earn the school's first playoff berth since 1994. Redan went on to defeat South Atlanta 10-5 to advance to the winners' bracket final against tournament host Marist
(18-9) today (Thursday) at 5:30 p.m.

Chamblee moved into the playoffs for the third consecutive season with a win over Grady on Tuesday, but dropped a 13-0 decision to Marist and will take on South Atlanta for the No. 3 seed at 4 p.m. today at Marist. A win would give the Lady Bulldogs the opportunity to play the Marist-Redan loser at 7 p.m. for an opportunity to earn a host role in next week's opening round of the state tournament.

Druid Hills is one win away from a state tournament out of Region 2-AAAAAA as the Lady Red Devils (11-11) face Newton County at Gary Matthews Park in Hampton today at 4:30 p.m. A win would put Druid Hills in the state playoffs for the first time in school history.
