THE WINNER: Bobby Portis

THE BASICS

School: Hall (Little Rock, Ark.)
Grade: Senior
Position: Forward
Height: 6-foot-9
Weight: 220 pounds

Athletic achievement: Heled the Warriors to a 26-5 record and the Class 6A state championship this past season. Portis averaged 20.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.8 blocks and 2.1 assists per game. A four-time state champion, he was selected to play in the Jordan Brand Classic and the McDonald’s All-American games and is rated the nation’s No. 13 recruit in the Class of 2013 by ESPN.

Academic excellence: Portis has maintained a 3.29 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of youth basketball programs.

THE PRAISE

“Portis has the total package,” said Eric Burnett, head coach at Northside (Fort Smith, Ark.). “He runs, jumps, shoots the three, posts up. You can’t double team him because he’s so smart and he’s such a good passer.”

THE FUTURE: Portis has signed with Arkansas.
