KATE FAHEY
School: Rumson-Fair Haven
Year: Sophomore
Highlights: After an impressive freshman campaign in 2011, Fahey emerged as the class of the Shore Conference in her sophomore season, rolling through the Monmouth County Tournament with ease before going on a staggering run of victories that landed the 2012 APP Player of the Year in the NJSIAA singles tournament finals where she would suffer her only defeat of the season at the racket of Westfield's Lexi Borr, dropping her overall record to a remarkable 21-1.
ABBY DUDDY
School: Manasquan
Year: Junior
Highlights: The junior emerged as the cornerstone of a Manasquan team that advnaced all the way to an NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II finals meeting with top-ranked Holmdel, in which Duddy split a coveted point with the Hornets' Katie McKay. Duddy followed up that performance by earning a No. 9 seed in the state singles tournament where she advanced to a quarterfinal showdown with Rumson's Kate Fahey, a rematch of the Monmouth County Flights Tournament final Duddy.
KENDAL KAUFFMAN
School: Toms River North
Year: Senior
Highlights: Kauffman rode a wave of success in her junior year to even greater heights in 2012 as the senior led her Mariners to an appearance in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV semifinals, a trip to the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals, in which Kauffman defeated Holmdel's Katie McKay 6-3, 7-6 in the loss, and Toms River North's second consecutive Ocean County Flights Tournament title. Kauffman also became the Mariners career wins leader in, earning her 91st victory in four varsity seasons while en route to an overall record of 25-3.
JAMIE BREUNIG
School: Toms River East
Year: Freshman
Highlights: The Raider's impressive freshman announced her presence to the Shore Conference Tennis realm in grand fashion, upending top seed and rival Kendal Kauffman in the finals of the Ocean County Flights Tournament, knocking off the talented veteran in straight sets by startling marks of 6-0, 7-5.
MELISSA GRANET
School: Shore
Year: Senior
Highlights: After earning First-Team All-Shore honors after her junior season, the senior assumed a leadership role for the Blue Devils in her 2012 campaign, and lived up to the title earning convincing regular season victories over such Shore Conference talent as Holmdel's Katie McKay, Red Bank Catholic's Rocine Moschella, and Marlboro's Haley Barnett, before an impressive postseason showing in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group I tournament.
KATIE MCKAY
School: Holmdel
Year: Senior
Highlights: Though an uncharacteristic slow first week led to an inflated number in the loss column for McKay, the Hornets senior leader would post a mark of 14-3-1 through the program's final 18 matches en route to a Shore Conference championship win over Red Bank Catholic and a Central Jersey Group II championship victory over Manasquan.
LAUREN BYRKET & TIFFANY HUANG
School: Holmdel
Year: Senior-Senior
Highlights: Although little light is often shed upon doubles duos, the Hornets top pairing was the foundation for yet another season of Holmdel dominance, as Byrket and Huang's overall record of 21-3 suggests. The seniors earned key points in both the Shore Conference and Central Jersey Group II finals before being named the fifth overall seed in the NJSIAA State Doubles Tournament.
REBECCA BAUER & JENNA GIORDANO
School: Red Bank Catholic
Year: Junior-Sophomore
Highlights: Bauer and Giordano raised eyebrows earlier this season when the Caseys top doubles duo rolled through the Monmouth County Flights tournament and into a finals showdown with Holmdel's Lauren Byrket and Tiffany Huang, downing the top-seeded Hornets team by scores of 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
