Emmanuel Mudiay has something in common with his school, Prime Prep (Dallas). Both have improved their positions since the season started. Mudiay, a 6-4 junior point guard, is a big reason Prime Prep is 23-0 and ranked No. 9 in the USA TODAY Super 25 boys basketball rankings.

This week’s player: Emmanuel Mudiay, Prime Prep point guard
2012-13 stats thus far: The 6-5 Mudiay is averaging 15.0 points, 10.2 rebounds, five assists and two steals per game.
Best Games: On Jan. 4, Mudiay had 18 points and six rebounds and played solid defense on Andrew Wiggins in Prime Prep's 59-46 defeat of Huntington (W.Va.) Prep at the Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling, W.Va. In a 91-79 defeat of Yates (Houston) on Jan. 2, Mudiay had 28 points and six assists.
Others’ Take: “He's been working his butt off shooting the ball, which allows him to be really effective off the pick and roll. He's more of a leader than he was in the past. That's been a big factor. He has some kill in him."

Look Out For: Apple Valley, Minn., 6-2 point guard Tyus Jones, also a junior, missed the early portion of the season with various injuries. He had 26 points and nine assists in a 81-60 defeat of Madison Memorial on Feb. 2. He's averaging 21.8 points and 6.7 assists per game in seven games.
Also Look Out For: Travis (Richmond, Texas) senior point guard Andrew Harrison, who is averaging 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.7 points per game. Like Jones, he missed games earlier this season with injuries.
